Great Looks That Come With 1950s Dresses

Fashions change year in year out. Depending on the person’s taste, fashion will always be one of the dynamic industries in the world. The pacesetters in this field are our celebrities. We all know how they like to don themselves with various designs and then come up with their own clothe line after that. This is mostly experienced during red carpet events and also during rewarding ceremonies like the Oscars, Grammies etc. some of the dresses that those celebrities wear are way out of this world.

One thing you may notice about their clothing is that they have a touch of the 1950s dresses. The designs of most of these dresses are very similar to the 1950s dresses. Let us look at the prom dress for example.

The years in which prom became prominent are in the 1950s. It is during this era that prom dresses became very common in high school proms and other evening occasions. It is because of this that most of the 1950s dresses centered around prom dresses which were known and described to be ‘poofy’ because of the way the lower part bulges out in kind of balloon manner. If we are to compare this with the current prom dresses that are worn, we find most of them have this 50s touch and style, especially the ‘poofy’ style.

1950s dresses were mainly for show off. During this period, women would wear in such a way so that certain parts of their bodies were exposed and the men would want to reveal how macho and bad they were. It is because of this that fashions began to change and people began to wear as a form of show off rather than covering their bodies.

It is during this period that pencil skirts and poodle skirts were common among the women folk. The poodle skirts were wide and had a patched pooled on the right bottom part of the skirt. Pencil skirts were long below the knee and very tight, straight just like a pencil.

Among the men, leather was the in thing at that time. A man in a leather jacket was always considered to be ‘cool’ by others. This was also a ploy to attract the ladies to them. One thing that the men added to this flair is to wear the jacket call upwards so that it could give them that ‘bad boy look’.

Gloves were another attraction and a common accessory, both among the ladies and men. For the men, a pair of black gloves with a black jacket and the collars of the same facing upwards was a sure ‘bad boy look’. For the ladies, wearing gloves was like our current day celebrities putting on make up. Gloves would be worn to various fancy restaurants, parties and whatever special occasion that was there to be attended.
